Author-Editor Conflict on 10.1371/journal.pone.0299881
UPDATE [2024-07-18]: Recently, the 5GH team received an e-mail from PLoS, stating that this article was retracted due the conflict of interest, and the issue about the ethic approval. The 5GH team appreciate the effort made by the PLoS team to this matter.
Here, we would like to report about the Author-Editor Conflict in a paper [1]:

The editor (Rahman) and one of the authors (Kostoulas) co-authored in 3 papers (2 in PLoS ONE) [2-4] during 2019 and 2024, suggesting the editorship of Rahman was against the policy of PLoS ONE.

Based on these findings, the data and the conclusion in Li's paper is not reliable, and we ask the publisher and the journal for a further investigation on the paper.
According to a report by Chinese Academy of Science, Springer Nature earned 471.86 million USD OA article processing charges in 2022, ranking 1st among academic publishers globally
These abnormal publications with Ozal Beylerli indicate the journal's poor manegement and low quarlity of the papers on Non-coding RNA Research.
From late January to recently, Bioengineered retracted 54 papers, which were published from late 2021 to early 2022 by Chinese authors. The journal stated in the Statement of Retraction that this action was due to concerns about publication integrity and the compliance with ethical policies for human research.
Up to now, the 5GH team has no intention of making specific accusations against the above papers. However, considering the large number of the publications that may be involved in academic misconduct, the 5GH team calls for the participation from more institutions and individuals in order to promote the investigation faster.
Recently, the 5GH team found that 2 animal studies on ACS Omega, all came from mainland China, lacked ethical approval disclosure.

We have a question about the paper (title: Prospective association of family members' sugar-sweetened beverages intake with children's sugar-sweetened beverages consumption in China; authors: Xue-Ting Liu, Jing-Yuan Xiong, Yu-Jie Xu, Li Zhao, Lars Libuda, Guo Cheng; and DOI: 10.1007/s00394-022-02971-3).
Recently, the 5GH team and independent investigator(s) examined Santosh's papers on Geoscience Frontiers (GEOSCI FRONT), Gondwana Research (GONDWANA RES), Geosystems and Geoenvironment (GEO GEO), Geological Journal (GEOL J) from 2020 to recently, and found 65% (99/152) of the pepers wih authore-editor conflict.
The article provides the information about the hospitalization costs for elderly (over 65 years old) trauma patients in Baotou, between January 2017 and March 2022. These data is of great interest not only to the scientific community but also to the policy markers, who are leading the reform of the health system. However, the communities may be better informed if the authors could further address the following issues
Previously, the 5GH team and our international allies exposed some questionable editorial contributions of WANG Aijie as Editor-in-Chief on Environmental Research, an Elsevier title. As the investigation went on, we found more concerning editorial activities from Wang, a professor at Harbin Institute of Technology and CAS Research Center for Eco-Environmental Science, and she was also a winner for the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, China. Here, we update the list for her questionable editorial contributions.
CHEN Jianmin, a professor at Fudan University and a fellow of Acadamia Europaea, is currently accused to get involved in questionable editorial practices. The investigation by the 5GH team revealed that he got involved in 44 cases of unethical practices, including 2 cases of Edit-for-Themself and 42 cases of Edit-for-Pal, all of these editorial practices were given to the articles on “Science of the Total Environment”, an Elsevier title.
