Journal Quality Index
The "Journal Quality Index" (JQI) is proposed by the 5GH Foundation to evaluate the quality of academic journals based on the proportion of published articles that are problematic. Problematic articles include those with: (1) Inaccurate or manipulated data, figures, and/or images; (2) Manipulated editorial processes and/or peer review; (3) Other significant issues.
The JQI categorizes journals into five classes based on the percentage of problematic articles:
A Class Journal: The proportion of problematic articles is less than 1%, i.e., [0%, 1%).
B Class Journal: The proportion of problematic articles is between 1% and 3%, i.e., [1%, 3%).
C Class Journal: The proportion of problematic articles is between 3% and 5%, i.e., [3%, 5%).
D Class Journal: The proportion of problematic articles is between 5% and 10%, i.e., [5%, 10%).
E Class Journal: The proportion of problematic articles is 10% or higher, i.e., [10%, ∞).
The 5GH Team assigns the JQI to journals based on the "Journal Quality Report" (JQR), which is compiled by the team and other third parties. Articles evaluated in the JQR should be selected using an unbiased method. It is recommended to select one or more complete issues or volumes for evaluation. Any JQR from third parties will be reviewed by the 5GH Team, and the final JQR will be made publicly available after the review process.
The 5GH Team welcome any parties to submit their JQR on any journals to 5GH@5gh.org.cn
